Speaking at the Transatlantic Defense Industry Access Forum, Mr. Rutte urged industry to deliver more firepower faster, noting that âwhen you, all of you, produce more, our deterrence and defence posture is stronger, and we are all safer.â

NATO will gradually adjust KFORâs posture in Kosovo over the next year in response to the improved security situation. âNATO and KFOR are fully committed to safety and security in Kosovo,â said General Alexus G. Grynkewich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe. âIt is this commitment that has led to increased stability as the security organisations in Kosovo have become more capable. The current conditions provide an opportunity to optimise KFORâs size and posture further.â

NATOâs newest multinational Forward Land Forces (FLF) began operations in Finland and Sweden on 6 June 2026. Led by framework nation Sweden, FLF Finland will enhance deterrence and defence on NATOâs northeastern flank and contribute to the security of the Arctic and the High North. FLF Finland is now one of nine multinational Forward Land Forces established gradually since 2017 along the Allianceâs eastern flank.

On 6 June 2026, the NATO Research Vessel Alliance departed La Spezia, Italy, for the High North and Arctic, marking the start of Task Force X (TFX)-Arctic â NATOâs new initiative to strengthen the Alliance's awareness and presence in the region. TFX-Arctic falls under NATOâs Rapid Adoption Action Plan approved at the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, which aims at accelerating innovation adoption and integration into military operations. It builds on experience gained from the conduct of TFX-Baltic, launched in January 2025 to enhance the security of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region.
