NASA Earthdata GIS (EGIS) will be transitioning and updating to a new backend enterprise system. This will change how users access the service.

There will be a scheduled downtime from August 31st - September 4th, 2026 during which the EGIS portal and its services will not be accessible. After the update and transition is complete, the URLs to both the EGIS portal and content pages will remain the same, while the services REST endpoints will have been updated (changed). 

We will send out a follow-up notification regarding the completion of the update and availability of the new REST endpoint URLs.

Please refer to the PODAAC Cookbook GIS Chapter for the updated endpoints to access the PO.DAAC EGIS services, once the EGIS enterprise backend system has been updated.
