The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 5.7 quake in Afghanistan near Faizabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, at 8:16 am local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 206 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.7 earthquake as well.
