I will just give you some quick info for the ones that don't know this.
If you're chasing an Ex TARBS now UBI box Please check that the box is working. First test is just plug it into the power point. Make sure the AV is plugged into the TV before turning the decoder on at the 240V Mains, DON'T WORRY ABOUT A SATELLITE CABLE FOR THIS TEST YOU DON'T NEED ONE Once you turn the 240 Volts on the box goes through a starting process and might go straight to Standby, if not it will show on your screen "NO SIGNAL RAIN IN YOUR AREA?" Because the dish cable is not present. Now you can go into the menu to make sure you can access the MENU otherwise the box could be defective. Exit the menu, pull the CARD out and put it back in and right down the Card and Box ID Numbers.
If you have it on a UBI transponder ( Dish Connected) for a short period of time Now when you plug the box in and it comes up as "Not Authorised" the box is OK!!, If the box comes up with "IRD Disabled" the Box is still ok, (Remove the Satellite cable don't leave it connected for a long time )if your box is IRD Disabled and you want to subscribe to UBI once you subscribe to UBI it will be unlocked. BUT!! The Big But!! if you plug in the box and it does not power up Or the Menu does not come up check the Ir Control Batteries, if batteries are ok its possible the UBI box is dead or Firmware is corrupted.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THE BOX HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED AS YOU COULD BE BUYING A USELESS BOX. IF YOU SUSPECT THE BOX HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH DON'T BUY IT.

IF YOU BUY A TARBS/UBI BOX AND IT WORKS AS THE ABOVE AND YOU HAVE USED IT AS A FREE TO AIR ON OTHER SATELLITES AND YOU DON'T WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO UBI DO NOT USE THIS BOX ON ANY UBI TRANSPONDERS AS IT WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY BE DISABLED IN A DAY OR TWO AND IT WILL NOT BE ENABLED AGAIN, NOT UNLESS YOU SIGN UP WITH UBI. PLEASE READ THIS AGAIN.
Phil

[ 06.
