An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred only 22 minutes ago 51 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.3 miles beneath the epicenter near Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming, USA, early morning on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at 3:53 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.8.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Riverside (pop. 53) located 14 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Saratoga (pop. 1,700) located 15 miles from the epicenter, and Rawlins (pop. 9,000) 47 miles away. In Laramie (pop. 32,200, 51 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
