Surely I should have been Warned?the Government and Banks are responsible.Shurely I should get a good lawyer on credit and sue for compensation?? just Kidding, cheers rickove

On a more serious note though,I have a 9 year old daughter and have her bank at school weekly,Into a basic Savings account. We try to get her to save and learn to manage her savings sensibly. What annoys me greatly recently is that She in her name is recieving Credit card Application, and promotional material via mail.for Virgin Credit card,Where do they get the detail to mail this stuff to Her.she is definitly under age,not working of course, and this material is purely unsolicited and unwanted. This seems a sad path the banks and finacial institutions are following. Not on!!!

This happens quite a lot. Its happened to our daughter and I rang and asked to be taken off the mailing list and any other lists that are out there. You have to contact the number on the application and they will advise you who to ring. There is a quote number usually on the bottom right hand side of the letter and you quote this number and say you want to be put on the do not mail, do not phone register. It works.

I don't have a credit card and some idiots today think thats impossible. I teach my kids the same. If you have the money, you buy it. If you haven't you don't borrow it. For me this is just a disease from big brother trying to corrupt our younger generation and its not on. Kids today are being bought up in a world of debt, whilst when I was bought up, my parents bought me up differently. I have said this before and people have laughed at me on other sites and newsgroups, saying its impossible. I have only borrowed money once for a car when I was 19 and once for my first house when I was 20 and ever since then everything has been cash, my money!!. Working hard, buying cheap houses in the best street, renovating them and making a good profit. By doing this, I was able to improve myself and buy the expensive toys I like today.

Ok Ive tracked the credit card, fiasco with my daughters recieving credit applications and mail promotions.Seems the school bank account is not to blame. rather her use of a prepaid mobile phone to virgin mobile paid for initaly under her mothers name .the young lass has been online, internet to check if she had an account status under the mobile number to virgin.she has enquired online about ringtones, etc etc,and seems to have filled up some request under her own name and mobile phone number in use, seems to have ticked some box online to recieve, future, promo and credit card info that is bundled obviously. Well it has all ceased now that everyone has been advised, and I will keep closer scruitiny of the kids.mobile usage and online activity? no aditional credit cards for this family.although have beentold the kids can have a credit card for them to use intheir name under somesort of Guarantor Parent thing? But we dont want to go There ,Thats for Sure! cheers rickove
