The tarbs decoder can only work with MDS smartcards! It can also be used as a FTA receiver, but some people have had trouble with it, with firmware corruption etc

yes tarbs box isen't the best box to use for FTA mainly best purpose and works best with the UBI service now

they work ok with the Globecast channels on B3 without a problem which are FTA

Posted By: LAZER Re: Using Tarbs box as a Decoder - Sun 20 Feb 2005 02:08:AM
im pretty sure u cant write nuthin onto them

and the info u read off the card isent that useful

can i ask wat ur trying to do????

apparently every1 overseas is doing it - you download information (from website www.gccadm.net for e.g)onto ur smartcard via an infinity USB device, then u load the card into your receiver/decoder and can catch all sorts of different stations etc..
im starting to think our problem is our tarbs box, maybe ot would work with a normal receiver..
??

Hey sotti! have had numerous attempts with my own stb3100 to get something usefull,it has an orig.smartcard in it,it sits hooked up to optusb3 signal 12407,30000,vert. shows 80%strenght,55% quality on its signal meter, map channels still nothing!useless swap the decoder box to own strong4800 same freq.dish etc.up come the Fta stuff, and Ubi stuff is gone encrypt anyway for this month ,Globecast stuff Ok. as to the smartcard tarbs have put it intomy serialport Mastercrd2 and doent read anything usefull off it??? with master crd2 programmer you can clone some cards with suitable software, just dont work with Tarbs cards, and many others?Dont ask! No Foxtel,Austar,Tarbs ex or any other Ird2 cards Ok.

Yes tried the 12640 horiz.22500 3/4 on strong4800 and 12613 horizontal 22500 3/4 all is ok! just stb3100 input allthese freq.with auto fec.all useless ok.

Remember to users,or future users of stb3100 mds mentor systems recievers/decoders when you boot up box on the Ubi frequ.and youve input all the relevant frequ.settings ,map channels etc, the box will prob. start a new download of Nit, table .update junk etc ,update, and request or just reboot ! too an Ird error or Ird now dissabled! youve been told!! end!Fun isnt it???Probably wont even now show any Ubi update Pics on who to call for a sub..smart??? isnt it All?

Does not happen in most cases.I don't do a forced remote update, use the other option

Its a simple box with a shit system in it which makes you so friggen angry when its been locked to "Ird Disabled" while installing for FTA even tho that there are many better systems avail for the same purpose, ppl chose to stick them wherever possibble...

[ 21. Most Cases?? dont think so? surely Ubi want poeple to not view their services, illegally or fta for the future ,suppose is their rights! so they implement changes to update the firmware of mentor boxes,by whatever means?Happens evenwhile ,just map channels and no forced update ,just ask around?I have and there are a few stb growing in numbers with Ird disabled, errors.
