Hi all,

I recently heard some exciting news, maybe just rumor, however ??

Talk is that TARBS is in discussions with US TV intrests trying to line up some new programming for Australia, and I mean good stuff like Space TV and scientific TV stuff ???

If they secure rights for US stuff and bounce it over the Pacific via Intelsat 701, they might as well go full hogg and send over the 300+ Dish Network channels as well...

Now that would put some "competition" back into the Australian Pay TV market..!!

PS is the TARBS box a Zilwell copy ??

cheers Frank

Frankfly
How are you? I can tell you this, TARBS have an option of two more transponders on PAS 8 (they have no existing contract with Intelsat). Now, two transponders, that means around another 26 channels.
Twelve months ago, I emailed TARBS and attached a typical email that I received from AUS-CITY for them, now this typical email was: My mother and father are of Arabic descent and we have TARBS and mum and dad enjoy it but because we were born in Australia we would like to have Foxtel but Dad said no way, we can't afford both...
Well, Frank, you can see whats happening here, mummy and daddy want their ethnic channels and the kids want movies, entertainment and sport. I can tell you this is on their bread board because what a great pay tv television service it would be to have 72 ethnic channels (at the moment) with cartoon network and TCM and ESPN in there but in the very near future to have at least 13 channels of good old US tv...just think they could always get HBO and Cinemax. Don't worry, If I ever find anything, I will let everyone know, but I do know this will be kept a very quiet secret if it does happen. Since TARBS is now in bed with the yanks, if you were the business operator of TARBS World TV, wouldn't you do what I have suggested above. Heeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Phil
