Hi everyone, long time no see..

I know this sounds like an easy question, but I can't find an answer that works properly yet!

I just installed a 250GB hard drive in my DM7000 and it works fine, records and the dream box is active on my LAN.

C'mon Phil, time to get one mate..!!

I want to now send and install all my DVD movies on the hard drive so I can watch them from the dreambox.

What I need is a program or codec that can convert DVD (Mpeg 2) to dreambox readable files.

There are a lot of files on a DVD so I need help to know which ones to convert as well.

Once the DVD has been converted I assume I can FTP the output file to the hard drive of the Dreambox and they will then appear on the movie list and presto!!

Help please.

Frank the Fly

Depends what image you are using? If you are using the latest Gemini you can connect and external dvd drive via the usb and mount it. Then just connect your home theatre amp(optical) and select the vob file and play it. I tried this with my 7020 and it worked flawless.

Otherwise network it, convert them all to divx and stream it from your pc using vlc or play it direct from your networked dvd(via cifs).
Dreambox itself isnt powerful enough to play divx on it's own and copying all your DVD's (unless you only have like 5 movies..hehe) would be pointless as you wouldnt get many on a 250gb hdd.

Hope this helps

Ash

I think he is using Da Vinci 5. Or Possibly still Hydra Phoenix as he had trouble using his keyboard with Da Vinci 5.

Mate of mine just put the latest and greatest Gemini image for the 7000 in his dream and he has CS and it works fine but if you run a keyboard I'm not sure if the keyboard plugins are available for that image or even if you ftp the plugins accross will the keyboard still work.

And this is the reason why one of my 7000 still has Hydra Phoenix on it and it works 100% perfect on everything.

I dont use a keyboard(I have a pc..hehe)...so I'm not sure. But the softcams are all the same. I guess if you dont like it you can always go back to what you had before, just do a backup before hand and then it's very quick to setup.

Ash

[ 29.
