I can't win!!!!
2 weeks ago Telstra tell me the exchange has still not been upgraded for ADSL but the minimum customers are about to be reached.
Today they tell me the Exchange is ADSL up and running and ALL TRUCKING PORTS ARE TAKEN, Are they trying to pull a funny on customers from other providers or trying to force them to join Telstra/Bigpond?

Just found out some good info from a friend in the Telstra know...
Cashmere Exchange Has a E30 unit that caters for 1-576 ports,,, this unit carries 12 Cards,,,, at the Moment it has only 4 cards in it,,,, thats a capacity of 192 ports,,,,, and at the moment there is only 28 FUC..king people on it using ADSL Who is telling what? why can't others connect from other companies? My friend told me they might have a RIM problem in the Street.
I forgot to ask are all companies allowed access to these ports, I will ask tomorrow.

Telstra = cheap bastards
Charge the same as everyone else but give you an inferior service.

Ash
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: ADSL Sh,it - Tue 07 Jun 2005 03:07:AM
Bigpond charge twice the price for ADSL around my way,, some QLD companies are charging around $36 to $42 for 512/128 at 8 GB or TPG 1500/256 20 Gig for $49.

FU...Ck
the cables I ran all around the house are no good, yes they are Cat 5 but they are Cat 5 telstra shit.
Yes i have checked to see that they are a straight cable not a cross, yes i even used the multi meter on them they are correct and Exactly the same as my test one I run over the carpet and that one is OK!!
Posted By: LAZER Re: ADSL Sh,it - Tue 28 Jun 2005 04:13:PM
did u have the same setup before and did it work properly?

of are u using some other equipment now?
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: ADSL Sh,it - Tue 28 Jun 2005 04:53:PM
I ran two cat 5 cables from my computer room to my tv room, don't ask. I have been using a temporary cable across the carpet and it runs perfectly. The pinouts on the temporary and permanent wires are correct. yes 100% correct for a straight cable. All I can put it down to is that this 40 metre length of cable in the wall is of poor quality. I have just ordered two ready made 40 metre leads, CAT 6 (yes CAT 6 with the shielding). What is your opinion?
Posted By: LAZER Re: ADSL Sh,it - Tue 28 Jun 2005 05:19:PM
hhhmmm... not sure i setup my network a while ago havent played much with networks but i was under the impression that the cat5 cable i was using was a crossover wiring??

the way i have myn setup is a cat5 cable from my network card into my computer then the other end goes into my 5 port switch which then shares the internet connection and files on all the computers on the network?
Posted By: LAZER Re: ADSL Sh,it - Tue 28 Jun 2005 05:22:PM
also my settings for the home network for my network card which shares the primary internet connection and files on the network is on the main computer is which i had to manually enter

IP : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0

and then on the rest of the computer just do it repair and it should assign it with all the details thru DHCP

[ 28. Yes all working now i used a cat 6 to do the job, looks like the Telstra cat 5 cables were not good enough. i ran one spare.
Posted By: Jason Re: ADSL Sh,it - Wed 29 Jun 2005 03:13:AM
hi phill

if you need gear like that give me an email
you can pick it up at one of my suppliers and use my discount like AMW electrical wholesalers
as for Cat 6 to best of what i know Cat6 standard has not be set as yet so be carefull of sales bulshit
are the leads jscks have a outer metal shield on them ?

just finished my Cat7 termination with Schinder electrical

this cable has each pair shielded and then one outer shield it can run any thing on it even HD tv
it part of ther structured cabling system

end of line
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: ADSL Sh,it - Wed 29 Jun 2005 05:26:PM
Jason
I know the cable feels like me on a cold morning, STIFF and slightly thicker.
I hate power failures just starting to enjoy ADSL and we had a 3 hr power failure at 7.30 last nite.

second computer up and running
Posted By: Jason Re: ADSL Sh,it - Wed 29 Jun 2005 11:08:PM
install ups abou $200 for a 500va and a generator it wiil only get worst they are just not spending the $$$ on power networks any more

should of sean the shit i went through for 2500amps for a customer

do you know that only 2 of the 4 pairs in cat 5 are used by the pc you can get splitters so as you dont have to run as much cable or do some jumping in the back of the socket

end of line
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: ADSL Sh,it - Thu 30 Jun 2005 04:43:PM
Jason
Yes only 2 out of the 4 pair required, I think its similiar with most other devices used over the connection.
