Vlad, We can only help subscribers at the moment. If they have a problem with the IRD they need to join UBI to fix the problem.

So, I guess they'll just have to stick to TV+ :S

If the IRD won't work with UBI FTA what makes you think it will work FTA with TV Plus? I doubt TV Plus have access to a Mentor/MDS activation facility.

Liski, Cause all STB3100's work in true FTA. Everyone with STB3100 can watch FTA on PAS8 and even all FTA's on B3 bar UBI's so called FTA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/default/wink.gif" /> Ask around <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/default/wink.gif" />

I'm confused. What is your question. If the STB3100 can view FTA then what problem are you talking about?

The problem is that most people that are in the possession of a STB3100 cannot preview the, so called, UBI FTA content. They are forced to leave their dishes on PAS8. They are quite happy with the way things are at the moment, which in turn means UBI has potentially lost 1000’s of customers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/default/wink.gif" />

yes i only get about 4-5 channels that work the rest show as " This channel not Authorised "

If they have PNA and are trying to watch the FTA channels they need to call UBI and UBI will rehit the IRD during the FTA viewing period.

i tried that months ago. after explaining the problem all she said was "sorry". liski you have sooooo much to read and learn. you should have done it ages ago.. much before putting yourself into UBI's position by calling yourself "we". BTW, if you didn't know this problem before, why did you think thousands of people had to buy a FTA receiver to watch UBI during last 5 months? just for fun? or you didn't know that either? [ 13. I will not comment on MyTVPlus. UBI will not have a RU package for any RU channels call MyTVPlus.

The formula or should I say, the recipe they are using will never make ‘em cash positive. They cannot see the forest from the trees. In a bid to make sure the 1% of people do not watch their Pay TV free they invest a million dollars protecting it! They are allready making through Turkish community as there is no one else able to bring any Tukish channels to Australia. One more thing, UBI has a new way of running this business based on the maximum cost savings. Remember, how all installation/equipment costs saved/transferred to the customers by allowing all channels viewable FTA. There is a good chance for UBI to survive and make money if the previous mistakes not repeated again...

Yes plenty of TURKS have UBI, its a matter now to get the numbers up fast to get the cash flow in. this is the reason why the free period was a short one.

The simple fact that there was only one player in the game before is the sole reason we, the subscribers payed such a high price. A. Because they could charge any price they think people are willing to pay B. Because without competition, businesses don’t have the need to be innovative in the way to run leaner, give a better product for much less! So as you see it is essential that more and more of em survive. Even new ones to pop up as we go. New companies with revolutionary ideas on how to do it better, quicker, cheaper!

Mind you… What I think people haven’t realised yet is that these providers are getting you to sign up to contracts where only the interests of the providers have been met! Let’s take mobile phones, shall we? To get us to actually sign up, the companies have to offer so many concessions! A. Free phone, with camera, radio, bluetooth, bla bla.. B. Cheap rates C. Free SMS D. Free calls. E. Happy hour free talk time… Just to name a few. So if we are so picky about signing a $20 per month contract, why are we so complacent when it comes to signing any contract with any provider??? Remind me, what are they offering me as insentive to get me to sign on the dotted line??? NOTHING!!! In fact, they want a $$$ installation fee, a $$$ dish realigning fee and a contract for the next 100 years where they can switch, change and even delete channels, but you must still pay. How ARROGANT!!! Vlad, You are absolutally right! but living in the other side of the world does not seem to me suitable for great competitions like mobile phones. When the technology reaches to the level where most channels be transferred all over the world as FTA then prividers will have more options to play with as well as the customers.

When, the technology advances, which is just around the corner now, and semi static content (Like repetitive sat TV content) becomes much cheaper, we won't (thank God) need providers. It'll be similar to the web and IP. Absolutely, in the near future we are all going to need just one provider, an ISP with fast connections. All the services will be accessed directly, including mobile telephony, and no need for middle men like Foxtel, UBI, etc. Initially most video services will be free in order to encourage users, like Internet banking now. After that there will be different models competing, like ISP plans now, either pay monthly for unlimited viewing or pay per view or something more innovative, we shall see.

I agree with you for one point as those wankers only checks the disgusting material for free, but if you check around the world specially in Europe, you will be amazed how many people jump to those services not caring the cost. Even now in Australia, there are so many of them encrypted and sold with smartcard only if you have noticed. I'm not a fan of porn channels, but this is the fact that most prividers will be looking to make more profit. Think about Foxtel's nighmoves/adult channels, ppl do not care if it cost $10 extra for a month even when they have the rest.

I have no friggen comment for the foxtel's nightmoves, its as you said but it does not change the way how australians feels about it. I just made one point as if the channels has limited to show then the last resources will be the most popular staff. As you said, porn channels are sort of free to watch in Europe but only cracked ones and most of them has new encryption systems. The ones are on air as FTA, they are to get your last dollar from yoor pocket with live chat & so on shows...
