Thank you very much for taking the time to send us that feedback about the Balkan package.

The latest information regarding the Balkan Service here in the Customer Care Centre is the following:

1. Pink Extra (Ch 35) and Planeta TV (Ch 32) will both be on-air as soon as we receive the respective live contribution feeds from Europe – Pink Extra is expected to be on-air mid week, and Planeta TV sometime later

2. We are about to receive a new contribution feed for Pink Plus – this feed does not have any of the “exclusive to TV Plus” messages that are being inserted on our current Pink Plus feed

3. We have agreements for all 6 Balkan channels that are currently on-air on our platform – UBI has exclusive broadcast rights for all these channels in Australia - we are in discussions with the respective broadcasters so that they honour their agreements with us, and we are confident that very soon we will be the only service through which these channels can be accessed in Australia

4. We recommend people interested in the Balkan channels create a contract with UBI now, and return it (with payment) ONLY when we notify them on-air about encryption – this way they can enjoy continuous viewing of the channels and not be caught up in the rush when we commence encryption

5. We will be proactively contacting the 130 Balkan subscribers to advise of the above news – we will also be running advertisements/press releases to raise community awareness and understanding of what the facts are regarding Balkan language channels in Australia

This is a good news for everyone in both side as the rights can be shared and the PINK TV makes the double income from the prividers. Or it may trigger the content agreement war between companies regarding PINK TV. What can I say... Time will tell but something is cooking already....Happy waiting to everyone....

[ 13. Pink TV is funded from unknown US sources who dictate the content, who knows what's cooking behind.

Extremely interesting.
So what does “contribution feed” mean?

From what I can gather is that UBI is calling up on some old agreements they may have made. I wonder if this is the case and they are, in fact, valid?
If they are talking about some old Balkan-tarbs agreements that won’t hold, as TARBS no longer exists as an entity.

Interesting info… lets see what developes.

Vlad, I'm just curious, what was so interesting that you received from a source which made you convinced UBI's content theft over PINK signal that stop you removing a topic about Balkan Channels? Would you like to share the info with us?

fsking,

Ok, I’m back. Shhhhh, long lunch

Well, there is nothing much to say, just that TV+ seems to be providing proof to their alligations, unlike UBI.
It also seems like UBI is trying to wear out TV+ financially in a bid to kill the competition. Sort of like you or I, trying to sue the bank over some interest rate they haven’t payed you.
Now I’m a pretty demanding person, and in demanding picture and sound quality now, I failed to realise that TV+ must have their hands full and are flat chat mounting a case for legal action, perhaps. Not that that’s any of my concern but I’d like to give everyone a fair go, especially the underdog.
TV+ has certainly done nothing wrong yet, it perhaps is a bit slower than I’d like but, hey. The only thing wrong so far is their inability to shut “ja” up!!!

contribution feed mean wat i think as they have there own dedicated feed for them selves as tv plus have on pas8 as there are differences in qualities between the 2 cause there coming from different sources as UBI is coming from Europe and TV plus most of it is coming from the USA

well today I turned my dish to B3 UBI..I have marked position of pas8 so IN case pink goes off I cant switch it back...I gotta thank one member for helping me out with the dish set up... LOL I gotta say I had more troubles unscrewing those screws than actually finding B3 sat!
here is my opinion on the channels

PINK XTRA - very very very good quality
PINK PLUS - Better than TV +
BK - Better than TV +
BN - is good but better on TV +

Thats my opinion plus B3 has LOADS of channels...I still havent had time to look at em all... by the way "Picture of Croatia" is not that bad but I expected better pic quality. At the moment its like Pink from Pas8.

I better go and tape some of that greek MaD music since I missed out on a lot..since TARBS went off air..
I would like both companies to have Balkans but I d prefer UBI due to the fact that it has other channles n better quality of pic! Even tho I know UBI wont do the italian channels at the moment I HOPE THAT THEY PUT EM LATER...otherwise FOR NOW UBI GETS MY THUMBS UP

I just read the same info from apsattv web site but still not fully convinced that UBI would transmit those channels without any legal documentation stating the agreement still exist even tho the above fax says opposite! Oh well, we can only wait and see whats coming next!...

Posted By: fsking Re: Email from UBI about Balkan Channels - Fri 14 Jan 2005 05:00:PM
Agreements can not be treated as assets if done between ppl rather than the companies, therefore, it's not transferrable to 3rd parties such as PWC. It's not clear how UBI insist on those rights as it looks that the distribution rights might be signed to rep names and leased to the company....
Posted By: Nick Re: Email from UBI about Balkan Channels - Fri 14 Jan 2005 05:36:PM
Okay, that's not uncommon, one entity owning the rights and then licensing them to another entity (Tarbs in this case). If it's true then who's the owner entity? That could change the whole complexion depending on the legal capacity of that entity.

His right hand is one of my long term close friend, but have not talked to him for at least a year due to my absence and running overseas projects. I will call him soon to get some internal news and if its what I tought then everything will be clear sky blue...
Posted By: Nick Re: Email from UBI about Balkan Channels - Fri 21 Jan 2005 05:28:PM
It turns out the entity that possibly owns some broadcasting rights for Balkan channels has just been legally incapacitated hence making all the rights void and the broadcast definitely illegal.

Not to lawyers. It can always be challenged in court.
