Yes if all goes well this week back at the other side of the Planet we should see more channels coming in to fill in the last positions for UBI on B3.
It will be interesting to see when the second half of the transponder gets turned on as this will be needed.

Don't get too excited...

From Serbian point of view, there are no popular TV Stations left except RTS. But chances are that RTS will go to the "other side"

BN TV, PINK+, PINK Extra and BK TV already signed exclusive contract with the "other side"

Most of former TARBS subscribers were from Serbia and Bosnia and I'm sure they couldn't care less about Balkan Package if it's made of Bulgarian, Macedonian, Albanian channels...
Posted By: reuder Re: Cross your fingers - Mon 07 Nov 2005 06:06:PM
My folks are seriously considering going over to the "other side". We just want some info, some channel names, and we'll hold off. So far it's looking the Serbs will be left high and dry. Also, could it be that UBI is holding off the release date for the Balkan package to deter people from subscribing to the "other side". It seems TvPlus is having cash flow problems, and the longer it goes for, without new subscribers, the worse TvPlus will be.
Posted By: balkancic Re: Cross your fingers - Mon 07 Nov 2005 06:09:PM
I think there is an untapped macedonian market who have been short changed in sat tv market with only one sat channel.

its a shame ubi couldn't get bn or pink over.. but hey.. I woudl be satisfied with 3+ premium macedonian channels and those bugarki.
Posted By: balkancic Re: Cross your fingers - Mon 07 Nov 2005 06:10:PM
reuder, sounds like a good tactic.

what else does tvplus send besides the main serbian channels?

russian? italian?

I don't think TvPlus carries anything else, although there are afew other things on that transponder, Russian, and afew other channels. For some reason, Macedonians I know can watch Serbian channels, and understand them, but when I try and watch MKTV, it's totally foreign to me.

I had the same question, I know if I were serbian, the decision would of been made already.

Are there any other premium serb channels?

Here's a list of some of the major TV stations in Serbia.

• Studio B
• Politika
•Bk
•Pink
• Art
• Košava
•RTS (sat)
• RTS 1
• RTS 2
• RTS 3
• B-92
• SOS
• Novi Sad 1
• Novi Sad 2
• Metropolis
• Hepi
• Kanal D
• Stankom
• Jesenjin

The ones in BOLD are the likely ones we/we'll have.
Posted By: reuder Re: Cross your fingers - Mon 07 Nov 2005 09:41:PM
P.S. RTV Stankom has The Block in their lineup. Someone desperate!

Don't worry UBI is reading this and I bet you they know all about the above. Let them finish the Greek package first and that will involve a lot more work involving the turning on of the next carrier.
Posted By: night_flight Re: Cross your fingers - Tue 08 Nov 2005 05:09:PM
I think jesenjin is not a bad tv, BN has a lot of their shows!
Posted By: reuder Re: Cross your fingers - Wed 09 Nov 2005 08:39:AM
For all you Macedonians out there, Kanal 5, has started broadcasting via Intelsat 10-02. Could it be apart of UBIs Balkan package? As Phil would say, "in the next few week, all will be revealed"
Posted By: LAZER Re: Cross your fingers - Wed 09 Nov 2005 08:45:AM
Most Maco Channels seem to be on that satellite

YU4CGF - why is it unlikely tha UBI would bring RTS Sat? Since it's not being broadcast in USA, I don't see how TV Minus would bring it over to Australia...So it's either UBI or nothing.

Another channel worth bringing to Australia (at least temporarily, until TV Minus goes bankrupt and its "exclusive" channels can be broadcast by UBI again) might be RTCG Sat.

So my recommendation to UBI would be - if you can, start with RTS and RTCG, and expand your Serbian programming later when TV Minus goes bust.

ok hang on wat are all these teleports for in macedonia and greece...I remember Phil was saying for eg. that australia will get sum chs that have never been broadcasted on sat (speaking of greeks in one of his posts)..Now there is balkanmedia tv which I havent seen but plays music as they claim they do check it out on balkanmedia site so that could replace partially pink to some degree and CROATIAN TV NOVA aint bad either so not all is lost...at least I hope!
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: Cross your fingers - Thu 10 Nov 2005 03:44:PM
They're all coming mate its just a case of one person, yes only one that is working on behalf of UBI in The Macedonian Teleport that has to go (FLY) between Macedonia to The Greek teleport in Lavario. Talk about a headache!! If it would have been another Major $$$$$$ wasting company they would have had a staff of 50 over there doing the job, 25 for each site.
The channels are coming, don't worry...
Posted By: afrisat Re: Cross your fingers - Fri 11 Nov 2005 12:35:AM
YU4CFG: thanks for the explanation on RTS Sat. That's a real pity.

As for RTCG, the quality of their programming is certainly no worse than K-15 and Best of Macedonia, both of which are being broadcast by UBI as of 2 days ago. RTCG has a mix of sports, news, and original programming about Montenegro - which is more than can be said for K-15 (currently they just have a 30-second commercial looping) and BOM (which is one big tourism advertisement to go visit Macedonia).

With all the good Serb channels gone over to TvPlus, what are people expecting to see from UBI? As far as I can see, slim pickings for UBI in regards to Serb channels. Just wondering what are people expecting?
