ekhazen5.

What package are you subscribed too? If you were on Public for awhile and have just come back to the UBI bouquet wait approx 15mins for the SC to reauthorise.

Hi all.

I have UBI tv and have had for a long time and tried to find an official UBI DVR but got told there isn't one.
So I just wanted someone to confirm for me please if I am able to buy any satellite DVR to record my UBI legally ??
Will I be able to record any channel that I receive from UBI as I wish ??
Also, is ALL satellite TV considered digital or is there such thing as analogue satellite TV ??
Not familiar with how Satellite TV actually works in terms of signals etc.

Thanks,
Ash.

Everything up on satellite these days is DIGITAL

As for a DVR that will work you could get one that you can plug your UBI box into as this is guranteed to work

But if you get a satellite reciever with DVR built into it it may work for now or may not work at all as its not supported by UBI so may not work in the future etc

with external dvr that connected to your UBI box you can only record what you're watching. Don't mix up dvrs with foxtel's IQ.

one more thing, you can't set dvrs to change UBI channels. So it will only record whatever channel the ubi box left at.

Hi thanks for your replies.

Ok so if I plug my UBI box into a DVR's video input, will I be able to do anything else on my DVR while it's recording UBI ??
For example while my DVR is recording UBI, can I watch normal TV at the same time on the DVR ??

Hmm that's a shame, as I was planning to get a twin-tuner satellite DVR to be able to record a UBI channel and still change to different UBI channels while it's recording 1.

If I plug my UBI box into a DVR's video input as suggested, I'de want to settle with a Topfield DVR but I don't think it has video inputs at all frown

Cheers,
Ash.

As far as i know there is no pvr+digital set top box combo with video input. But there are dvd recorder +hdd combos with digital tuners. They will let you record ubi and watch digital tv at the same time. Check panasonic and sony websites.

Thanks for reply ShaRp.

Well I'll have a look around see if there is a DVR twin tuner around with video input. I know there are DVD recorders with digital tuners as you mentioned but don't think there's any with twin-tuners.

Originally as I said before, I wanted a satellite twin-tuner DVR which would work with UBI but as LAZERSAT mentioned it would be unreliable as might not work in future should UBI change something on their side.
