Phil,

Yes a great player, I have one myself. Best thing is it will play DVD-RW which is a very hard format. Also there is not one DVD-R that I have created that it will not play.

Best thing is as it plays ANYTHING you put in it, makes the player the BEST on the market for scratched and damaged disks.

A few weeks ago I rented a movie and my laptop rejected the disk, the old 'disk error'. I then tried my Pioneer A04 burner also rejected it.

However the XMS-950 (mind you after a 10 second pause!!!) up came the title menu. Took the disk back and they tried 9 players not one worked, only my XMS-950

Its the problem with the studio's Sony and Toshiba about the worst two on the market. They are okay with printed disks, but anything burnt forget it.

Welcome to the world of copy protection, MPAA and the movie studio cartel.

There is NOT a DVD on the market that will not have problems with a batch of disks. Its chance and luck (quite in your favour).

Sony and Toshiba are the WORST on the market. They will NOT play anything that has been authored, they only play origional pressed DVD's. You can add hacks and so forth, but you cant even burn home videos of your damn child onto a DVD and the crap of a thing play it!!

It really angers me, all this protection and designing players to specifically reject burnt media. Who the hell made the MPAA Lord and Masters of the Universe and made THEM decide that I can't play my sons DVDs on a name brand DVD that happens to be owned or has some financial tie with a film studio.

So I guess by the MPAA's policy I would just leave my son's video on HI-8 and in 10 years time after the video has deteriorated say a simple 'oh well'.

The 3 disks you have must be of a particular pressing. Its common to buy the SAME disks again and will play fine.

Don't worry send me the origionals, I will make BACKUPS for you on DVD-R that will play no problems, and return copies and origionals to you.

MPAA you get the giant thumbs down!

Yes I agree Dave.
Done more testing today,I have a CD of "ELTON JOHNS" greatest hits for years the first 4 tracks (songs ) wont play just jump stop whatever, I have tried this CD on 3 computers (at home), 1 other DVD player, 1 Pioneer CD player, and 1 DVD Panasonic Machine (mine)all do the exactly same, no first 4 Tracks.
But using the XMS-950 the 4 first tracks are perfect not a error at all, and the rest is Perfect hummmmmmmm.
Strange
Phil
