David,

I wonder if you might know how I can do this - I know what is in the information you posted, but is there anything special I can do? I live in the former USSR (but American citizen) and happen to be coming to the U.S. for a short visit with my family. I'm trying to talk my brother into bringing his 4 year old son, I'll take my 4 year old son, and we'll make it a brother/son bonding time.

I just tell you this b/c it is something of a one-shot deal for me - I don't know when I'll have a chance again.

Any thoughts you might have on how to definitely get a pass to the closest viewing possible would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

As a Canadian, I am not the greatest resourse for access to KSC, let alone the US itself.

But as a former military and government pencil pusher, the only thing I could suggest is maybe contact the US embassey closest to you and see if they can help you out with contacts at NASA or maybe the PR people at KSC themselves. I have heard from some people that under favouarble conditions, they can move mountains to assist people to get the view of a life time.

Most of the good viewing spots are by pass only and generally you need to know someone to "sponser" you kind of thing. You might get lucky with the KSC PR crew if you explain what you would like to get out of this liftime event.

Timing is everything, but with the shuttle flights being on hold except for the next two "proving flights", it will be hard to schedule these events. But getting in a small group tour, might be the next best thing.

Sorry if I wasn't too helpful.

Dave..

Dear David,

I appreciate the good word. I'll try that route and see what happens! If it ends up I'm able to get a good view, I'll come back and let you know.

Blessings,
Nathan
