The AMSAT News Service mailing list is one of several distribution mechanisms for official bulletins issued by AMSAT-NA These bulletins may also be obtained on most amateur packet radio bulletin board systems, and on the Web at http://www amsat org/amsat/news/menu html Bulletins are issued weekly, with special bulletins issued in between for breaking news
In addition to the AMSAT News Service bulletins, this mailing list also distributes SpaceNews, a weekly newsletter issued by KD2BD
All bulletins sent to this mailing list are formatted for direct posting to packet radio If your local packet BBS doesn't already receive these bulletins promptly, you are encouraged to forward these bulletins into the packet radio system yourself (check with your local BBS operator to be sure) If you do transmit these bulletins on packet radio, you must preserve the BID (bulletin identifier) on the "SB" line at the beginning of each message
If you have information of general interest that ought to be published in an AMSAT News Service bulletin, please send it to the special address ans-editor@amsat org for consideration You may not send it directly to the ANS mailing list If you want to write directly to a large audience, consider joining the AMSAT-BB mailing list, which is for general discussion
The AMSAT News Service is provided by the volunteers of AMSAT-NA For more information on AMSAT and the amateur radio satellite program, see the AMSAT-NA web site at http://www amsat org
