hey tv chile is gone from telsta 10 satellite does that mean anything i mean thats the uplink so if the uplink is gone will the channel return???
Posted By: fsking Re: TVC down? - Mon 13 Dec 2004 08:36:AM
It might be transferred to NSS6 for uplink as UBI's new uplink sat would be NSS6. If so then you need confirmation for that sat and the new sat transponder freq/SR/FEC. If the uplink still on Telstar 10, then there is probably some problem from other sat transfers to Telstar 10.

Someone want to call Ernesto Lombardi over at TVC and find out what is going on...

Last I heard UBI has NO sale rights to TVC just "testing" transmission rights...

Also Last I heard TVC was droping the EU transmission of their channel..

UBI can get TVC of PAS4... i think but its encrypted so they will have some fun now....

hehehe it will be off for a while now I am sure...

Posted By: Myself Re: TVC down? - Sat 18 Dec 2004 04:11:PM
Now for the rest of the members who have a genuine interest in TVC here are some updates;

Their website shows the following:
*************************************************

*************************************************

Basically they are saying that they are still in negotiations to have the signal back in Australia, there is still no outcome.
They also advice everyone not to pay for equipment or installation until they resolve the delivery of the signal, which will be announced in their website.

Ok,I can give you a bit more information, there is a new company in negotiation but is not Olisat or foxtel, is a new player on the block, and it will be delivered from another sat (not Optus B3), at this point I don't know if UBI will be able to keep the signal, some other information provided by Bandido is also true (price)

More to come soon.

Myself

[ 18. Foxtel as mentioned by satfreak doesn't want any more foreign services because their strongest programming is English content and sports, although even with this they are struggling but that is another topic.

TVN will be back no doubt, not from UBI the way things are going (there is always a possibility) but from a different supplier.

[ 18. Dear, Satfreak,
Yes, please make your phone calls to FOXTEL and your will find a surprise on TVN.

In regards the content of TVN let me assurance that for FOXTEL it’ not a problem due that this an Ethnic channel for a determinate community as Chileans which is the biggest on Spanish language.

Marketing studies showing that for TARBS was representing a big part of revenues about of 15% of their 55.0000 of subscribers. Which 7500 multiply by $ 50 is $375.000 per month not to bad. Multiply by 12 months $4.500.000 per year. Interesting business do you think that for FOXTEL is not too bad?

And this inf is for you too Myself.

foxtel have said in the past if they get more ethnic channels they will be Arabic and Greek but Spanish is a long way away as the number or Spanish people in Australia is low compared to the ones above.

If they do get a Spanish channel most likly it will be one like Univion or Telemundo which are most popular in the US Market and with Directv which owns Foxtel

[ 18. I was told by others it a bandwidth problem getting it here, and since the turkish and the arabic channels have the first preference TV Chile has to wait or better still be removed to be replaced by another channel that in the above packages.

Maury,

You can either cancel your contract and pay it out or wait until TVC comes back and there might be a chance that the viewers will be credited for the time the channel was down.

She is devastated now without it. Please respect others. This Forum is a help form, not to decide witch channels is good or bad. I used to read this forum all the time before and I it was all about good information and help between all different background people. @roy4hire, it is true that people have to sing up now, UBI knows about this, I mean, although the signal is still FTA, UBI has done something to the boxes so every time (started in November) someone aligns the dish to Optus B3 and does an update channels 30 to 39 says the program is not authorized, the Latino package starts on channel 38, the only way to get UBI send an update to the box is by subscribing.

I just want to know why they have done this to the Spanish community; the Arabic package is not affected by this, well until it gets encrypted that is.

So that's what Maury is talking about, UBI wants $49.95 Activation fee plus the first month $59.95 so pay $109.90 and you get the channel cleared, so they starting charging for something that was FTA (TVE) and still in test (TVC)

Let's see what happens next.

Merry Christmas to you too roy4hire and everyone else.

I HOPE THAT TVCHILE WOULD BE BACK , that all I want.

Breaking News!!! Definitely .. TVN does not return with UBI, due that UBI can not accomplish with terms and conditions asked by TVN (especially in which is referring to the monthly fees of the subscribers charged by UBI to the Chilean Clients).

TVN will restart broadcasting on FTA (Free to Air) basis by 15 of February of 2005. Thru OPTUS B3 or new satellite which will be announce directly by TVN web site http://www.tvchile.cl/

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all. Specially to the big Chilean Community.

Feliz Navidad y un prospero año nuevo les deseo a toda la gran comunidad Chilena en Australia, de un Chileno que trata de mantenerlos bien informados.

Dan04

I agree with you and Bandido your arguements are starting to ring true,,,

I will be making some calls between now and the new year to see whats going on..

Rgs

I know that because, around March this year they said they will get a popular arabic channel 'by the end of this year' it will defenitely be on TARBS Mr boulos made publicity over it saying yes will have this channel by the end of this year.. and they lied just to keep customers and put there hopes up (knew they were gonna go bust obviously), and it was shut down a few months later.

Now let me make this clear, I'm not against UBI they are doing very well and it's great that they are able to re-build what they lost, from July till now.
I'm just giving you an example of what I experienced with TARBS now the same thing seems to be happening over TV chile
Thank you.

@Satfreak it's true that TVN Chile has conversation with TV+ for distribuition of their signal in Australia?
Posted By: roy4hire Re: TVC down? - Mon 27 Dec 2004 03:35:PM
@ Maury, let`s make one thing clear, i 100% don`t hate chileans ok. my next door nieghbours are chilean and come over my house on chrismas eve to say hi to my famiy, 2 of my mate are chilean, and they are true friends ok.
if they put another channel from chile and it was good then i wouldn`t mind. but i don`t like tv chile the channel. i can only complain about the latin section and there are only 2 channels there. nothing else to complain about.
Posted By: Maury Re: TVC down? - Mon 27 Dec 2004 06:17:PM
@roy , ok now Iknow where are you coming from.
Posted By: Myself Re: TVC down? - Wed 29 Dec 2004 05:31:AM
Guys, most of the information coming to light so far is making more sense and is heading in the right direction, TVN is in negotiations with a unknown company name in Australia for the rights to distribute the signal, it will only be FTA for a short while, same as what happened to UBI, then they will encrypt the signal and start selling their services, the longer they take the better, the satellite they will use is 95% going to be PAS8

So the clue I left before remains a clue until I get the email confirming the deal has been done, then everyone will know about this company, having said that TVN Management seems to be away on leave so there is some delay getting things done.

After all this, I wish everyone a safe and fun holiday break, and hopefully santa brought you what you wished for

Cheers

i posted that info back in August i got this email on the 9/8/04.

ESTIMADO RUBEN

YA SE HA VUELTO MAS CONCRETA NUESTRA POSIBILIDAD DE VOLVER A AUSTRALIA.

PANAMSAT, LA EMPRESA DUEÑA DEL SATÉLITE QUE NOS PERMITE LLEGAN A AUSTRALIA NOS HA CONTACTADO CON UNA EMPRESA OPERADORA QUE NOS DISTRIBUIRÁ.

CUALQUIER INFORMACIÓN LA PUBLICAREMOS EN NUESTRA PÁGINA WWW.TVCHILE.CL

GRACIAS POR ESCRIBIRNOS,

LORENA GODOY A.

TV CHILE

(562) 707 7240

which says that panamsat has put them in contact with a company in Australia that will distribute their signal. so this was on before UBI started.

so is TVN goin to remain as a full time FTA channel and which satellite are they goin to use??
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: TVC down? - Sun 02 Jan 2005 05:50:PM
That should make a few Happy, anything that is free most of the times is good. Look at Videoland USA, the best collection of movies I've even seen, leave foxtels/Optus's Showtime and Mov1 for dead. When they encrypt I would love to get them. Mind you they have been FTA mostly for over a year.
Phil
