Since you are collecting a wish list Liski, can you also ask them to look after their past customers who forked out a years subscription in advance.

Simple m8. There's 1000's of Humaxes and other systems floating around doing nothing. Let the customer have their own system and sell them a card. More revenue for UBI, less expense for ppl, and less rip-off merchands around. If not Ir2, make it Via or anything else that ppl can buy standard CAM for. I'm not talking about card sharing which can be killed in it's infancy by lowering the price to eg. 39.95/mth. With that price, who will be bothered, except a few Sat nuts like us? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/default/wink.gif" /> With MDS that is hacked to death and MUST BUY STB, it will be much less revenue over longer period of time. You can't use a mentor card on any other box period. You have to be joking if UBI are going to spend MILLIONS just so you can use the old humax's that you cant use on foxtel/austar anymore.

Yes Phil, you're %100 right about the friggen Humax boxes spread around like a fire bomb with all goodies but ended with a big drama when Foxtel replaced the encryption with Ird2. They're still good boxes for FTA and others (Optus / Aurara). Its just a bit sad/funny, how many people have lost heaps of money with Dish/LNB adjustments, additional installation of Dish/LNB + Switch, then re-allignment and so on..

Full package for $39.95. This is my Christmas wish as well.

Laser, I was not around for the last 1.5 years due to the lond trips to overseas so all I remember, fox changed the system from ird1 to ird2 but obviously they used videoguard as well as ird2 but when did they changed to NDS that I do not know. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Irdeto 2 for fox is for there old service all new installs fox do is NDS now they will phase out irdeto 2 as soon as everyone has been converted to the so called " Digital Service "

Just to buy the licence to use Irdeto will cost you Millions before you the Pay TV company even buy a box. And by the time you buy 30,000 Boxes + cards see how much that will cost you.

Figures taken from New Skies rep. and they are for the systems of 3-5000 subscribers. What's your exact number? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/default/cool.gif" /> In regards to the boxes .... as far as I know, UBI declared themselves only as CONTENT PROVIDER, means they have NOTHING to do with customers hardware. Correct? On top of that it will be up to the customer either to organize hardware themselves or to ask UBI to call outsourced company to do so. BTW, MDS cost too, maybe TOO MUCH compared to Ir2 because you have to buy the MDS card and MDS BOX, and you can only watch their service and nothing else. And, of course, you have to buy 1000's of boxes up front from only one supplier - Mentor. Heya! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/default/smile.gif" /> I maybe got the answer why is UBI still using MDS. Friend of mine who is doing some work on behalf of one of their contractors - repositioning the dishes, replacing faulty boxes and installing a new one told me that almost 50% of boxes that he's installing have TARBS sign on them. That means that Mike boy & Co stil have a few thousands of boxes that they have to get rid of, which means that they don't have to invest in naw boxes. We'll see what will happend when they run out of old stock. Cheers scorpio

Those TARBS boxes that are getting installed do not belong to UBI they belong to the sub-contractors and they are selling them to the subscriber. UBI do not sell boxes at this point in time.

What Phil is saying is closer to the truth,, Oh there is 2 sets of fees per customer 1 for the Smart Card and 1 for the Ir Soft Cell Software inside the settop box... Get some change out of $350k up front and you may be real lucky..

FYI if you need some MDS boxes I do know that Mike and co do have some on the ship in transit,,,,

If you wish to own and run your own conditional access you can bank on the following with very basic features $380k - $450k upfront $18 per card $19 for softcell (settop box software licence) Then about $50k per year there after in ongoing support / management fees. If you want any additional feeatures like "Card Marrage, Pairing" +50K upfront. ALL PRICING IN USD>>>> FOXTEL/OPTUS/AUSTAR/AUORA all have Ir Softcell embeded into IRD's This is the cheapest platfrom when you have 50,000 - 100,000 + customers you can pay anything from 1,mil and upnwards [ 12. Correct me if I'm wrong, is the Softcell part of the receiver with embeded CAM? When somebody buy eg Humax IR Ace, do they pay at the same time Softcell licence (included as the part of the STB price) ?

All included by the manufacturer to the box price if the box has embedded CAM. If there is only PCMCIA slot for the CAM then you pay it included to the CAM price without knowing there is a portion of it.

Like I said going to Irdeto 2 would be good but I think UBI hasn't got the spare cash to do so at the moment. And most important irdeto 2 is not safe and every day more and more are getting broadband/ADSL and it has a liking to Irdeto 2 and others encryptions except for NDS and Mentor if you know what I mean.

By the way while UBI as has ship full of Mentors coming to Australia and on that same ship is the New Dreamboxes 7020 and 7080 with duel tuners and DVD burners built in. I love it!!!!

true I agree on that one...I think croatians at least have HTV but muslims dont have a channel at all..I recken they (UBI/TV+) could pick up sum subscribers just by having that channel

i would like an Italian Package, especially Rai International & Telepace ( Italian Catholic Channel ) both formerly on Tarbs. Maltese Channel would be great too. Also English Channels - News & Sport would be good. My mother paid 12 months ahead for Tarbs but only got 2 months out of it. i had Tarbs for more than a 1 1/2 years, for my wife who is Filipino. We now subscribe to the Filipino Mux on Pas 8, $33 a month through abs-cbn.com, the number 1 channel in the Philippines, remixed as TFC - The Filipino Channel. Other Filipino Channels there are ANC ( News ), CinemaOne ( Movies ) and Pinoy Central ( Mixture of things ). i am a new member to this forum. i have enjoyed reading most of the posts in the last couple of days. Wonder what Filipino channels UBI are going to get? Probably GMA (this channel runs lengths 2nd in the Philippines)

i would really like to see StarTV added to the Turkish package!!! and also Dubai Sports because it is also a soccer heaven (even though i wouldnt understand arabic)

olympiakos2002 call WMI they are exclusive distributer of Antenna and will be introducing new Greek Channels towards the end of Jan,.. Regards
