Please... TVP Poloina is due to be pay only in 3 days... But with the 3 channels on UBI definately a better package.. Will have to go with UBI for sure.. I'm just wondering what will happen with TVP when the contracts start running out hopefully people realise UBI has 3 channels.. Wonder if UBI will then have 4 channels..
Just wait and see
Woohoo, yes I'm sooo excited! After 8 months of ringing UBI every month, and being fobbed off with the same comment each time "the Polish stations will be available next month", finally, after Puma has actually launched their TV Polonia service, UBI remembers their old TARBS subscribers and send the letter above. Funny how it happens just three days before Puma subscribers have to start paying for their subscription. Funny how there is no mention of what these three "exciting" new channels are. Funny how there is no timeline given - no anticipated dates (years?). Oh, I'm sure if I rang UBI I'd be told "next month".

Dark Lord, you can wait for UBI to deliver (and wait, and wait, and wait). I say "A bird in the hand is worth ..."

UBI has previously shown contempt for its potential Polish viewers and this latest stunt is no different. I'm registering my dis-interest.
Doplphin,

I'm sorry you feel this way but you have to understand that nothing can be done over night and each language service gets worked on one after another.

Spanish were advised to wait and within a month they got 5 channels and 2 weeks later 2 more and now one more coming.

The 3 channels which UBI will bring will be much better then TVP.

At the end of the day it's the customers choice on who they wish to subscribe to.
Wow the single Pol channel for $49.95 looks really good value.
Well 1 Polish + a few English for $49.95 looks good .. That's when the English channels are ready
as you said WHEN THE ENGLISH CHANNELS ARE READY
until then it looks extremely poor value.

Why don't they offer it for $25 for the one until the english start?
Liski, please explain....

How are they going to be "much better"? Do you know that for a fact that they are going to be better? Is that your subjective view or is that the line you have been told to push? How do we know that these aren't just someone else's rejects? Quantity doesn't always equate to quality. Is there a particular demographic that is going to be served by these 3 "much better" channels?

Again, no details have been supplied.
The 3 channels will be much better then TVP.

I don't get told to "push" anything on here - I post updates to make sure everyone gets the information as many people are scared to call companies.

I have said this many times - No details will be released until UBI WORLD TV is ready launch the package. This has been the same with all the other package launches.

You are arguing over a package that hasn’t been launched.

The best is to wait and see what UBI WORLD TV has to offer.

[ 28. Only the extra channels like the Movie Network, Disney were extra $$$
I emailed UBI yesterday after receiving their letter about Polish channels.
This is the reply..... We hope the channels will be here within 4 to 6 weeks, but since no contract with Polish broadcaster has been confirmed yet, it could take longer.

Sorry we can not confirm dates as yet, or even channel names, but signing up international broadcasting rights is a slow and complicated process that takes quite a while.

Please be assured we are committed and trying our best to bring those channels as soon as possible
Well if that is the case that means when the English channels arrive all the other packages will have have to pay $25 for them.

Umm so pay $49 now.. then later the English channels added for free? Who are they kidding pay $49 for 1 channel for x months.

Or pay $25 now for a single pol or $45 for 3 pol channels. Later you can upgrade to the english channels for say $49 or $59 for Pol 3 channels + english.

I really think they have the pricing wrong. 1 channel for $25? might tempt plenty to sub.

"The TARBS days!!!
English channels were introduced only after all the packages we nearly finished and they were free. Only the extra channels like the Movie Network, Disney were extra $$$"

Ahh yes what happened to Tarb's Phill ? ahem..free? no you paid for them with the overinflated package prices
apasttv,

You don't always have to be so negative.
UBI replied to KLOSS
quote:
We hope the channels will be here within 4 to 6 weeks

Ah! There's that magic figure of a month, again.

Liski, I'm not arguing with anyone. I am merely putting forward my opinions/impresssions and explaining why, these days, I treat any promotional material from UBI with cynicism. Surely this forum allows for more than just glowing testimonials of UBI. Rather than being defensive, you may wish to let the appropriate people know that my view is a common one amongst a section of the Polish viewing audience.
Promotion materials just present an awareness.
Can't blame you being cheesed off about being told that the Polish channels wil be coming next month...
You can always subscribe to TV Polonia which is in hand...
Dolphin,

Your view is like anyone else’s but everyone must understand that it takes time. I'm from the Balkans and where are my channels? I'm still waiting just like the Polish, Greek and the others - At least there has been a press release issued which means they are finally on the way.
apasttv,

You don't always have to be so negative.

Liski I made a valid comment about the value of the Polish Package. It seems UBI didn't learn from the mistakes Tarb's made.

The package pricing was one thing they got wrong.
1 Polish Channel for $49 plus a plus a limited selection of the other UBI WORLD TV channels. Isn't value for money if you can't understand those other languages.
At the end of the day it's up to the customer to decide if that one channel whatever it may be it worth it.
some comparisons with the others

TV Polonia from Puma Media cost $45 a month
http://www.tvpolonia.com.au/Abonament.htm

IPTR NITV ( Iranian ) from IPTR cost $49.50 a month
http://www.iptr.com.au/subscription.html

NHK Premium from TV Oceania cost $49.95 a month
http://www.japantv.com.au/english/subscription.htm
I wonder if the above will ever give you a chance to get English channels for the same price.
what a ripoff for those tvp/iptr/nhk. 1 chan almost $50 a month
first of all, nobody would get 1 channel for $50 when they could get 3 channels for $60. so no point in arguing.

[ 29. June 2005, 09:08 PM: Message edited by: ShaRp ]
Good comparisan Lazar

They all look poor value!

As for them offering English why would they it's not their market they are catering to a small niche group.

Hey alcatron those services you would also get a bunch of other ethnic chanels in languages you can't understand. So the comparison with UBI is fairly accurate.
Big Chief,
I AM subscribing to Puma because they ARE delivering.

Sharp says,

quote:
first of all, nobody would get 1 channel for $50 when they could get 3 channels for $60. so no point in arguing.

That's like saying "no-one would buy a steak for $15 when they can get 3 Big Mac meals for $18". You can't eat them all at once just like you can't watch all 3 channels at once. Secondly, if the 3 channels are crap (and we know nothing about them yet) then it's better to have one good channel.
I tell ya what.. I went without polish channels for nearly 23 years I think I can wait another two or three months to see what the competition has to offer before signing on for a 12 month contract.
