I'm sure I've seen this info before on the forum but just can't find it right now. Can we use any receiver that supports Irdeto for TV Plus?

The dreambox works the best you don't even need a card!! and the new model has HDTV even that won't fix TV plus's problem.

The Dreambox is too expensive and it doesn't fit into my long term plans, so any cheap box with Irdeto 2 slot will do as long as it's accepted by the TV Plus, right?

This forum isn't particularly helpful when it comes to non-UBI questions. Answers usually revolve around the Dreambox as if it's the perfect answer to all non-UBI providers. I'm sure UBI would like to see TV Plus and all the others (including Foxtel) out of business due to the piracy but that's just a dream.

The biggest threat to all is not the piracy, it's the Internet. The music industry has already felt it, the next are TV and Hollywood. As for the satellite TV, well they can only survive in the rural and isolated areas (read Austar), the rest are doomed.

In the mean time I suggest we close this forum as it obviously doesn't serve its intended purpose.

You ask for a box and I only buy the best what wrong with that.

If you subscribe to tv plus there card works perfect in the Dreambox and it give you other options for all the other Free to air Satellites. mind you I have bought one second hand fo $400.

If I understand you right, Phil, you dont need to buy additional Irdeto CAM for Dreambox. Does it meens it has embedded Irdeto?
What about Dreambox picture quality? I've got real problems with my Technosat 7000 (from Horizon). I have quite bad pixalization (not sure if it is right term: picture is breaking to small squares on fast movement). It happens only on channels with good PQ (RTR, CH1 and RTVI), which brought directly from Europe. No problems with shity ones like NTV America and RTVI+ (not channels - their PQ, they are converted from NTSC).
It seems, box has not enough processing power to process rich picture, or is it still problems with translation?
Actually, I am looking for box with Irdeto, PVR and ideally with Terrestrial TV. But it's look like you can not have all this in one box at the moment?

This forum is called " OTHER PAY TV SERVICES" not just TVPLUS so just because you can't decide which box to buy you want this fprum closed My Brother just bought a used Dreambox 7000 for $420 and has his legal austar card in it he will be connecting it to his router so he can browse the net he now has a 1 gig USB stick so he will be able to download heaps of plugins and games for the kids The list is a mile long for what you can do with these marvellous boxes and by the way his Humax 5400 has been sacked for being too stupid. But if you want a cheap Irdeto 2 box any will do with software problems like some of the cheapies have and after you finish with tv plus you might as well put it in the bin. Most cheap irdeto 2 boxes will not even work on Austar and thats Irdeto 2 and if they do they drop out lock up and give you the shits.

I'm waiting for the new dreambox to come out very soon with the terrestrial card in it and don't forget you can have up to a 300 gig hardrive in them to record whatever you please and up to 4 gig USB drive too, Now you don't have to go for the illegal stuff thats a no, no, but when my brother spotted a setup and his eyes opened super wide he could not believe what this box could do the owner flicked through all the channels like over 100 of them. All foxtels/all TV plus/all RFO and XXL via 3 dishes and diseqc on the sharing system plus he had the keyboard, over 2 gig of games and plugins weather warnings, tsunani warning you name it and it does it 14 different plugins running in it. Now could you imagine what the new twin tuner will do. Can't wait.

Some of the cheap boxes suffer from lipsink problems, nothing worse then someone lips moving and the words are delayed or the other way around

Its a 50/50 but because i have a few brands of boxes I can check to see who's at fault.
Posted By: Kostya Re: Which receiver for TV Plus? - Wed 14 Sep 2005 03:04:AM
I notised it happens more on good quality picture channels like RTR for Horison. And also pixaliation problem. But, when it is slow movement or steady picture - it is perfect. I've never seen this PQ on this channel even in Russia.
I read a lot about problem with pixalisation on some terrestrial boxes. Same DVB standart - may be same problem?
