It took them all night. Word on the street is that Optus was attempting some in orbit manouvering that went badly wrong resulting in the spacecraft pointing away from the earth. They had problems getting the one remaining operational SCP to accept TT&C intstructions. The question is how much propellent they consumed in the process - B1 is rumored to be low on propellent before this episode.

The SkyNZ people must be really unhappy after last years SCP failure.

Wonder what Optus will do ........ next week should be interesting.......

Select tv is starting to sound like apsattv, doom and gloom for UBI. Hey Select TV I told Phil what you said about him, I'm still waiting and so is Phil as the both of us want to see that post about Mike Boulos and the Greek channels. Please show us all that post because a few of us want to see it. By the way I wont let this matter rest.

Word on the street is that B1 is due hit its end of fuel life in June. Earlier this year Optus miscalulated the fuel load and revised its end of life to Aug, then had recent orbital aerobatics problem burning even more fuel - the orange light has been on for some time.

Also, see:-

http://gearbox.mine.nu/temp/UBI_World_TV_Upclose_and_Personal_with_Mike_Boulos_Chairman.mp3

for an interesting listen ........

TV_Nerd that MP3 was posted here already http://www.aus-city.com/ubbthreads/showf...part=1&vc=1

Keep on Topic what does it have to do with Optus B1 Failure?
Posted By: TV_Nerd Re: Optus B1 Failure - Thu 27 Apr 2006 07:16:AM
Well, more than 50% on topic on a word-by-word basis.

I was so shocked to lean from Mr Boulos that he is actually chairman of UBI that I had a minor brian lapse (cue: sparking and short circuit noises) :-)

Mr Jaremt must be apoplectic .......
