New spanish channels to be appearing. See new slide on channel 39, 40, 41 & 42

thanks for that bigchief, but apparently they been there for a while, even on 39 allways saids "cine latino" which it could be the famous mexican channel or a ubi own created channel in sydney. Let's wait for it. Cheers. Bond007

Cine Latino & Telefe should be on mid April and the other 2 new Spanish end of April

finally the promise is coming from ubi, getting telefe as before with tarbs. but the gold is the one from cine latino, and the others. Signal coming soon on C band guys.

Looks like Liski got a lot of information. and me like the others, yes I like to see those channels been real, it is about time. TV globo is on intelsat701, probably that will be the feed for ubi soon or a new buch of transponders coming soon on c band feeds. Cheers Compadres. Bond007

Well about time somebody will have a real pay tv company that will satisfy a huge population from Australia,I am refering to to the ethnic communities with good quality channels. The only problem is some of the ex tarbs boxes upthere and have been disconnected for a little while still do the encrypt channels when I recconect them,Like arabic and Turks,I think is about time U.B.I to upgrade right now before another people keep testing and by-passing the the card and watch everything for free.. Liski, this sounds great. I heard some time ago that Olisat was going to start trials in the middle of this year + SelectTV or I-view "plans" to start transmitting may or june as well. How true these reports are is anyone's guess. If UBI can actually deliver on this promise soon, it is quite likely that a large part of the Spanish community will sign up with them thereby rendering the attempts of the other companies (at least at a spanish package) useless. The package sounds promesing UBI. Don't stuff up!

i like !!!! its good i mean I-view and UBI will now start competing for the Spansih Subs and this can only mean more channels For Spansih people as they try to out bid each other with more and more channels!!! 5 channels that cover everything Music, Entertainemtn ect.. is good Sports channel would be great too but i can;t ask too much !!1 24 hour movie channel is great

I talked to UBI, they said 2 spanish chans will come online by mid april and others will follow later, contracts are still being finalised

Yes Mid April wr will have TVE + TELEFE and CINE LAtino which have already been signed but the music and entertainment channel will come latter.

i think its at the end of this week/

I was watching OBN this morning and then the channel stopped for a brief second and i saw a paused image of Telefe Int it had it the top right corner and then it quickly changed back to OBN...so im guessing UBI is doing something to bring them channels online asap

In Perth? I rang UBI yesterday and they gave me 3 numbers. 1st Number didn't answer all day. 2nd Number in Melbourne (very knowledgeable staff by the way - really impresssed). 3rd Number said he had same box as mine with SC for $220.

joe_br, I don't have any information regarding TV Globo.

isn't suppose that telefe and cine latino suppose to start in the middle of april and all the other should start next month? Is it going to belong ? Is it going to start next month? or when

i called today ubi and they told me that the spanish channel will not start untile the first days of may and will not start in the middle of april and maybe at the end of may.

Actually it was a simple enough question? I honestly didn't know how many spanish/speakers in Australia. Yes 100000+ for Aus seems a reasonable market. I shall try and locate figures for NZ. as for the SIC channel I think thats one Globecast distribute on their U.S world TV platform.

Since we are talking about spanish channels, could anyone tell me how on earth does SBS get their news from TVChile every weekend????? TVChile is no longer been broadcast into australia,(we know that) and yet SBS still shows TVChile news on the weekends....we are they getting it from???

I often wonder about that too megb68. But then again, they must have a special way of getting that feed since I doubt they'd use UBI to get their signal.

The answer is very simple they get the tapes from TVN Chile every week to show it to the chilean community which is part of the Chilean government way to keep evry one inform about that beautiful country..,.

I understand spanish tv still for delay until begining of May , and I don't understand why ubi is showing " coming on april" even technical dep. doesn't know when exactly is coming up. At the moment is the focus on the new channel not spanish on the coming week.

Frank Guneri is not in the UBI Technicial Department. He works for one of the UBI Preferred Installers as a Technician so he wouldn't know what happens within UBI.

hey uruguay...dont worries about the spanish channels....guess what....I just found another spanish channel.....want to know more???? well keep on reading....dont know if you'll like it though because its a christian channel....but it is fully in spanish and it comes from Costa Rica....it has good programs and cartoons for the kids in spanish.....the only thing is you'll need a 3.0 m mesh dish and you need to live in WA....the channel is called Family Christian Network and it is on PAS 10....good luck!!! and God bless!!!!

you are right mate. But the point here is where are the channels tha Ubi still advertising for the month of APRIL , or better say April 2005. TELEFE television federal from Argentina never deliver signal on fiber, allways is on uplink from Buenos Aires as example, how do I know , simple I use to work for them, of course time changes and they can provide service in a different medium. i wonder why the spanish channels didn't come yet a new news to the people waiting for the spanish channel: well those spanish will not come in the first days of may, but maybe on the middle or the end of may.

Keep an eye on the Spanish channels through out the day for updated information regarding the Spanish Launch!

In simple terms in the last 6 weeks UBI Management has spent 90% of its time getting ready for the court cases that are happening right now. If the mightiest can't be at two places at the same time. For me UBI have gone very well, TV Plus Started only a month or so later and how many channels has TV plus got to Show?, Now how many Channels has UBI added since it Started?. roy i was just jocking man i know its impossible to get all those channels for such a small community. what i was saying is that we once had nothing and now have 6 what more do we want!! i;am happy that UBi is looking after their spanish community and hope it grows (Sports channel would be nice). as for tv chile just because you didn;t like it doesn;t mean that others didn;t as for the uruguayan remark you know where you can stick it!!! to jo, sorry mate, i was being sarcastic, im still lol, and to uruguay, don`t take it hard, im only kiddig with you. and yes uruguay, it`s brilliant what we are getting, true sports would be nice, but as phil said politics, even thow phil the turks have a 24 hour soccer channel. which means in the future who knows. and uruguay, about tv chile, i wouldn`t swap one of the new spanish channel for tv chile, if it was tv chile then yes, but tv chile international is crap, im sorry but it is. by the way uruguay there`s a couple of soccer internet stream channels, with lot`s of southamerican soccer, at 109kb, not great but better the nothing, up from israel shows argentina legue, copa livertadores and qualifiers. if you want the link let me know, iven thow you probebly alredy know it.

So if the spanish channels are to start on the 15th of May, then why there is no sign of them on any C-band frequency?????? I assume UBI will use a C-band satellite to bring then into Australia...

Yes Competition, Fibre vs satellite and at the Moment fibre is a little cheaper.

Yes heaps cheaper. Should be good when UBI get the Spanish channels up and running, but when the two transponders (4 carriers) are full thats what interest me next, it has to be new transponder time. I wonder if they will get a full transponder cut in half ( around 26 Channels) or will they get on a half transponder to start with. Which ever they choose the public are in for a lot more channels..

Fibre if you read that other post with Press Release it says they signed with MCI for fibre capacity for up to 50 channels. As for the full transponder cut in half.. thats 27mhz a MAXIMUM of 16 channels if using very low bitrates (stat muxing) Sky NZ usually stick no more than 8 on theirs plus misc other bits and pieces, data,radio interactive. TVNZ are looking at 8 on each of their 2 half transponders. Seems a good number in terms of quality
