when does this start?
also what is this Suspension Fee $24.95, im not under any contract, and last month the lady told me to cancel all i have to do is call 2 days before the start of the new month.
trust me im not paying any suspension fee just to cancel this ubi crap. and liski dont make threats, you send you debt colector and i`ll send you flowers.

UBI you are all a bunch of thieves, and liski i have no contract and i will cancel my sub, i just whant to know if the new spanish channel is coming and what is it, but afcourse that was all crap no new channel is coming as i said all along.

bye bye ubi, i`ll cancel my sub tomorrow monday.
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Sun 18 Mar 2007 07:46:AM
roy4hire,

The Suspension Fee is only applicable if your putting your account on suspension (example if putting your account on hold as your moving house or going overseas).

The new Spanish channel should be on air sometime in April.

Sorry to hear that you've decided to terminate your contract.

He's not under any contract anyway, so it's all good.

reuder,

He currently is in contract but not locked in. A contract is still there until he requests it to be terminated.

Those changes are crazy.

People already thought that World TV package wasnt worth $60..now its $75...

and the Arabic package is certainly not worth $60 by itself...

you need atleast 5 more quality Arabic channels for people to pay $60..

or lower the package to $40 or something.

1 Arabic channel for $25? MySat offers $40 for 6 Arabic channels...and those 6 are better than UBI's Arabic package..

Dont know what UBI was thinking
Posted By: RATLSNAKE Re: UBI New Pricing - Sun 18 Mar 2007 11:48:AM
OK I am little confused.
As an existing UBI customer who pays $59.95 for ALL the channels, am I to understand that I will now lose access to all non-greek channels. In other words i pay the same money and have only 10 channels as apposed to the 80 I currently have?

I mean I actually do watch some of the non-greek channels, especially the english Al Jazeera.

Looks like a certain company needs quick $

Since you're still under contract (I'm only guessing), these new prices only apply to new subscribers, so you should be fine until your contract runs out.
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Sun 18 Mar 2007 10:54:PM
Al Jazeera English will be included with all a-la-carte and language packages.
Posted By: Dan04 Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 12:22:AM
Who is going to pay hundred's of dollars in start up costs to subscribe to ANA as so called 'al la-carte' and pay $30 for a channel that is worthless and colour is shit... its been on a while now and all they show is selected channels from the arabic package... what a rip off $30 for a worthless channel... I wouldn't even pay $0.01 for it!
Posted By: balkancic Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 01:04:AM
i dont understand why you have to pay so much in upfront costs. Foxtel give you the euqipemnt when you sign up for a period.. why cant UBI do the same.

Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 01:19:AM
UBI WORLD TV don't subsidise the installations as we don't have installers. All installations are handled by third-parties. This is the same for SelecTV, MySat, TV Plus, ConnecTV and etc.
Posted By: balkancic Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 01:46:AM
foxtel also use third party installers... they just pay there subbies instead of the client.

free installation its all over the adds..... so why cant ubi do the same?
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 01:59:AM
Once again, TARBS WORLD TV did and UBI WORLD TV doesn't subsidise the installation cost. This is the same as SelecTV, MySat, TV Plus, ConnecTV and etc. Foxtel, Optus and Austar can afford to subsidise and they do.
Posted By: balkancic Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 04:47:AM
Liski,

I know that they don't! I am telling you that they should! Its easier for someone to commit to $30-40 a month... Instead of the total $400 in setup costs.

and on the other note, about selectv, at least they let you pick your own equipment(and yes I know you do the marry the card to the box so its not possible)

However, you could have used a better box that has better video outputs!
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 05:11:AM
To subsidise the installation would mean higher subscription rates.

At the moment a Standard Install + STB is $345. UBI are currently waiving the first month and activation fee which is a saving of $79.90 for the Balkan Package.

Better STB? Hopefully in the future there will be a new type of decoder available.

Our customer base have problems using this STB as it is, could you imagine if we provided a Smartcard Only service? Our call centre would be flooded with constant problems.
Posted By: RATLSNAKE Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 06:32:AM
I just called the CCC and the girl I spoke to unfortunately didn't know much, nor did she know the pricing PDF file had been updated on the official site. Felt sorry for her.

She told me there is no concrete date as to when existing customers will be migrated over to new plans, however she said definitely by June I will lose access to all channels that do not apply to the language pack I'm subscribed to.

This is incredibly disappointing, but I suppose at least I can watch Al Jazeera. However the pricing is NOT fair, e.g. Arabic package has way more channels than the Greek and other packs that are also priced the same. In my case if the Greek was made cheaper I wouldn't mind as much.
Posted By: night_flight Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 07:51:AM
yeah its soo stupid ratlsnake i agree with you so much...when i had tarbs in previous years i loved greek chs and mad music but also i like some arab music and this was so good ..and now u get stuck with just greek and thats for the same amount of money!!!!!!! really UBI GETS MY VOTE DOWN ON THIS!!!!!!!!!
now people have criticised tv plus and the number of chs tv plus has but to me ubi now is just a bit better than tv plus no difference...SHAME UBI!
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 08:03:AM
Did it maybe occour to you that the price of the Arabic channels is equal to the cost to get the Greek channels.
Posted By: RATLSNAKE Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 08:59:AM
It did occur to me, because of course not all things cost the same.

However I would direct UBI's attention to Internode, one of the top 5 ISPs in the country. Whenever they redo their plans they never move users to a newer plan unless the user requests it, and the users always benefit, either more downloads, faster speeds, or sometimes the same plan but simply cheaper.

I realize satellite TV is different to Internet, however those who have half an idea about the ISP business know that ISPs don't make all that much money per customer after costs either.

However Liski, if you could find out when people will be moved to the new plans that would be appreciated.
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 09:22:AM
All customers will be migrated to the new plans in the coming months.

I'm guessing this would allow customers to cancel their subscription?
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 11:10:AM
If they are out of term yes.
Posted By: roy4hire Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 10:12:PM
i cancel my sub yerstuday, but they have to send me a termination something which i have to send back before the end of the month or else i`ll have to pay for onether month, i bet i wont get this letter so they charge me onether month, sorry but i don`t trust ubi, apsattv is right they need money. i mean what`s the point in signing this letter, we join over the phone or net without signing any contract, but to terminate we need to. i don`t care at least im out and joined select tv. better spanish channels, as i subscribe for my mom she going to love ultilisima.
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 10:42:PM
roy4hire,

UBI require a letter advising us that you wish to terminate the agreement between yourself and UBI.

If you requested the Termination Letter yesterday you should receive it today or tomorrow the latest.
Posted By: balkancic Re: UBI New Pricing - Mon 19 Mar 2007 11:58:PM
are there termination fees? what happens to the equipment& install you paid $345 for? is it yours to keep?
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Tue 20 Mar 2007 12:15:AM
If your out of term there is no termination fees.

If the STB was leased to you then it will need to be returned to UBI.
Posted By: balkancic Re: UBI New Pricing - Tue 20 Mar 2007 02:57:AM
well, if I connect tomorrow.. and I pay 345 get teh equipment, and then terminate. Would I be purchasing the equipment or leasing it?

How abotu those cutomers that got theirs free?

Thanks.
Posted By: Liski Re: UBI New Pricing - Tue 20 Mar 2007 03:58:AM
balkancic,

If you purchase the STB at the $95 price then it's yours to keep.

To the customers that the STB was given for free during the upgrade or during the Ellas+ Offer then the STB remains the property of UBI WORLD TV.

Wow wow wow. So you guys can lock people in contracts and then just raise prices? I'm sure that must be against the law, not even Foxtel does that!

Yeah, “Nice work UBI”…

So when’s the start date Liski? :o)

Makedon,

Existing subscribers will be migrated within a few months.

Is that true Makedon?

WOW !

Now the Serbian U.B.I. subscribers (if any) can really enjoy watching Arab politics on Al-Jazeera, Bosnian folk music on Hayat, Monte-negrian morning shows (after midday, local time) Bulgarian talk shows and Macedonian jokes for kids on K-15 teehee

What a treat blink
