Nothing wrong with competition but not long ago some on this forum Mainly appsatv critised UBI for trying to sell a channel that was available FTA, now we have a company selling 6 channels that are FTA and I'm still waiting for Apsattv comment or is it blind eye time for sir Appsattv because its not UBI. You must be fair!!!

Sometimes the complaining is done by the pay tv providers themselves.
But YU4CFG if its your neighbour and if you're man enough its your duty to find out who the whinger is its your dyty to tell him or her in there face that I hope you have no skeletons in your closet because I will expost them.
See what I have found with people is if you find out who they are and you approch them and you tell them the above in their face and they could think that this person could mean trouble or is mentally unstable. Good post by the Admin, yeah they seem to be slowly adding channels many of which are fta. I don't expect that Real Madrd will stay FTA for long that one aimed totally at the asian pay tv providers as soon as they sign up a few off it will go.

Fashion TV is available for rebroadcast FREE same as Bloomberg (this one must come next?)

Wine Network? gee very niche you shouldn't really add stuff like that until you have a core of about 50 reasonable channels.

BBCworld costs the provider...

as someone pointed out some people will still pay a reasonable amount for some of these channels via ku as cband isn't an option.

If selectv were smart they would do what impactv were going to do and dedicate part of their platform as Free to air. You wouldn't complain if Fashion TV, BBCworld, Dwelle and a couple of others were FTA on Pas8 ku right?

gee I wonder if Nasa channel will be next up.......

If not fixed the rattling kills the rings and the motor uses more oils than petrol. I had my motor rebuilt at only 11000K on the clock with the latest revision pistons to stop this problem, Heaps that are buying the GEN 111 second hand don't know this and they are being sucked in because they never asked to be there to start the engine COLD The Car Yards are smart they start them up before you get there or they start them in the morning to remove the slap when cold , it takes up to 8 hrs to get the engine cold enough to test it if its rattles, Trust me I'm an expert on this matterI have close family members that work for Holden in Melbourne and I was concerned once I read below and mine failed the test. By the way around 22% of all the Gen111 from VX to late VY all fail the test and HAVE to be rebuilt.
Read this forum they even ran a poll on all owners of Gen111 Australia wide. Just to let you know, every Gen111 engine ever built and fitted to any VX series on any model or any VY on any model all suffer from this problem and all should have been recalled, but that would have cost super millions. Holden had a policy, only rebuild if you super complain, as all the above fail in the long run. They have had 4 revisions of pistons to fix this problem and only revision 3 and 4 have solved the problem. Revision 1 and 2 had to come in again to be replaced. Revision 4 pistons have correct tolerance pistons, revised gudgeon pin clearance, revised gudgeon pin oiling, revised oil groove clearance, location of top piston ring, different types of rings and the pistons are teflon coated. This alone only solves the problem.
Trust me even my 9 year old boy knows this problem ( he has heard it enought from mine or others) and I has tested a few of others to give them the good or bad news.
http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31

Remember look for the SEARCH option and Type Piston Slap.
Also read

[ 16. Cost over $8000 per car Even the Head bolts have to be replaced.
YU4CFG
While your in the LS1 forum do a search on CLUTCHS
You also will need 2 days to read all the complaints about the weak clutchs I also had to get a Clutch, P/Plate and Flywheel replaced 3 weeks before the engine was done and its doing the same problem again and i've only done 1500 k on it. As for timid owners do a serch on the LS1 forum you will find the ones that haven't had much problems of Oil Consumption are the ones that have FLOGGED their cars from new. Work that one out. Mine Rattled and used 2 lts of oil in 3000Klms now its ok I have done around 1600k only since the rebuild and it hasen't used a drop, before the dipstick would have dropped 20mm. Also the reason why so many BLEW UP!!! They ran out of oil, It was IMPOSSIBLE to go from one oil change to another without adding a min of 1.5 to 2 ltrs of oil in 10,000k By the way some rattle and dont use oil but when the rings give up its Bye Bye time the engline becomes a Oil pump. NoW for the PCV problem. to long to type.

I would say the content will improve once they sign the channel to some major pay providers in the region.

If they sign with some main provider like , Multichoice,Dream, Foxtel, Sky NZ etc then they will have income $$ to purchase rights of some of the bigger events for Asia/Pacific region.

Well take it too the Mechanical forum the Monaro Forum for your talk but for this problem with these Engines its a Major Issue I had Phil check my sister Calais which the Holden dealer said it was ok but Phil said no its not that bad but not good either. she took the car to the dealer and told them don't start it until Phill arrives next morning and within 2 minutes it was booked in to be rebuilt. The LS1 forum is a good forum but only the priviledged become Valadated and if you are Valadated you are allowed in the hidden Private forums and there is where the action is and its not easy to become valadated. And of course Phil is Valadated the A.R.S.E But again like Phil and other say what is quiet for you and the Holden Dealers that have been told to knock them back fails for some.
They all should have been replaced, Phil had a great Photo collection of the old and the new pistons and all the other mods that he had done while the motor was appart, They won't forget him in a hurry. The way I look at it as long as you have the failed pistons in the engine you will never sleep. Aren't you a friend og Phil you know he had an LS1 and was involved with cars? just because you're a mechanic by the look at it you should have asked someone else. YU4CFG, this is the second time you have stuffed up, the UBI box was the last debarkle. I would have asked before buying it. I think he meant "debacle" which means a massive failure, a defeat, a collapse.

Hi Phil, a bit obscure ..... I don't recall ever working for ?????? ......

The PanAmSat agreement is good, we've found that the trick with PAS is to pay your bills on time, then they are very helpful (an epiphany for some).

APSATTV predicts "SelecTV disappears without fanfare." Seems unlikely to me .......

Come on the annual prediction are just a bit of light hearted fun..,.

p.s SELECTV can be received in Southern NZ on 3 M solid dish. I may have a try for it on my 2.4m

Well I am watching my UBI World TV right now and I could also sign up for SelecTV but the only "debacle" I know of is... Oh what was it called? Oh yes that's right! IMPACTV! Where the F*** is it Craig?

LOL.

Well...panels..not as good as a single piece for Ku but better than nothing
Posted By: Webmaster Re: Select free to air TV - Sat 21 Jan 2006 04:14:PM
apsat,

Yes agreed if you got nothing else then use it. Mesh (even the fine) works lousy at Ku Band, your lucky to get 45% to 50% efficiency.

Worst issue is not so much the reflectivity efficiency of the mesh, but the lousy surface tolerance. That is why the efficiency is down and hence the gain.
Posted By: SelecTV Re: Select free to air TV - Sun 22 Jan 2006 11:59:PM
Interesting, according to PAS there is nothing over NZ. Do you have a gain or efficency estimates for the 2.4 and a NF for the LNB, any idea of the fade margin?? It would be useful to work out the EIRP.

A 3M solid in the far south is %99 on your 12286H transponder. Over spill though, unpredictable.

I might be able to hit it with 2.4m. Need to find a KU feed though.
