Moderate magnitude 4.6 quake hits 37 km northwest of Rustāq, Afghanistan early afternoon![](https://www.volcanodiscovery.de/uploads/pics/quakemap6647606.jpg) 4.6 quake 14 Feb 3:55 pm (GMT +4:30) An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 11 minutes ago 37 km northwest of Rustāq, Afghanistan, India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. The quake hit at a great depth of 302.3 km beneath the epicenter near Rustāq, Takhar, Afghanistan, early afternoon on Monday, February 14th, 2022, at 3:25 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Chubek (pop. 19,600, 19 km away), Rustāq (pop. 25,600, 37 km away), Ārt Khwājah (pop. 18,600, 45 km away), Taloqan (pop. 64,300, 80 km away), Taloqan (pop. 64,300, 80 km away), Faizabad (pop. 44,400, 85 km away), Khanabad (pop. 71,500, 100 km away), and Kunduz (pop. 161,900, 110 km away), the quake was probably not felt. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
