SPC Day 1 Fire Weather OutlookSPC Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0200 AM CDT Thu Jul 27 2023
Valid 271200Z - 281200Z
...Synopsis... Multiple mid-level perturbations will traverse northern portions of the CONUS while pivoting around a broad upper ridge across the central and southern U.S. today. One mid-level perturbation will overspread the northern Great Basin during the afternoon, encouraging 15+ mph sustained westerly winds in association with downslope flow along the lee of the higher terrain. With RH expected to dip well below 20 percent, Elevated highlights have been maintained from the California/Nevada border to the Snake River Plain. Monsoonal moisture will continue to support scattered thunderstorm development across the Intermountain West. Any lightning strikes that can occur in dry fuel beds will support a localized wildfire-spread threat.
