Moderate magnitude 4.6 earthquake 60 km east of Tarapaca, Chile

Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Tarapaca, Provincia del Tamarugal, Chile. The tremor was recorded early evening on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 6:58 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 121 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.8. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.8.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tarapaca (pop. 120) located 60 km from the epicenter, and Huara (pop. 1,100) 87 km away.
