An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 18 minutes ago 26 miles southeast of Pedro Bay, Alaska, United States, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 73 miles beneath the epicenter near Pedro Bay, Lake and Peninsula County, Alaska, USA, around noon on Saturday 2 January 2021 at 1:20 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Pedro Bay (pop. 42, 26 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
