Magnitude 2.9 earthquake strikes near Bencubbin, Mount Marshall, Western Australia, Australia 2.9 quake 29 Nov 12:44 pm (GMT +8) Just 24 minutes ago, a 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Bencubbin, Mount Marshall, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded around noon on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, at 12:44 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 2 miles below the surface. The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.9 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.9. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bencubbin (pop. 230) located 8 miles from the epicenter, North Trayning (pop. 24) 9 miles away, Gabbin (pop. 56) 10 miles away, North Yelbeni (pop. 15) 12 miles away, and Welbungin (pop. 33) 14 miles away. In Koorda (pop. 260, 18 miles away), Mukinbudin (pop. 350, 25 miles away), and Wyalkatchem (pop. 400, 30 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
