An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred only 25 minutes ago 53 km southeast of Parras de la Fuente, Mexico, Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Parras de la Fuente, Parras, Coahuila, Mexico, around noon on Saturday 6 February 2021 at 12:08 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Tanque Nuevo (pop. 230) located 4 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in General Cepeda (pop. 4,400) located 25 km from the epicenter.
