Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes near Ternate, Maluku Utara, Indonesia 4.4 quake 22 Feb 6:41 am (GMT +9) A intermediate magnitude 4.4 earthquake was reported early morning near Ternate, Maluku Utara, Indonesia.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Monday 22 February 2021 at 6:41 am local time at an intermediate depth of 83 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Ternate (pop. 101,700) located 76 km from the epicenter, Sofifi (pop. 36,200) 88 km away, and Tobelo (pop. 10,000) 91 km away.
