Moderate magnitude 4.2 quake hits 23 km southwest of Gostivar, Macedonia late at night

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Macedonia near Gostivar, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Sunday 14 March 2021 at 10:38 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.9.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Mavrovi Anovi (pop. 910) located 7 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Rostusa (pop. 9,100) located 10 km from the epicenter, Debar (pop. 18,100) 21 km away, Centar Župa (pop. 45,400) 23 km away, Gostivar (pop. 51,000) 23 km away, Peshkopi (pop. 14,800) 24 km away, Vrapčište (pop. 8,700) 25 km away, and Kicevo (pop. 31,100) 26 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Skopje (pop. 474,900) located 71 km from the epicenter, and Bitola (pop. 86,500) 86 km away.
