A magnitude 4.3 earthquake near Murghab, Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan, was reported 36 minutes ago by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 115 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Tuesday 3 August 2021 at 3:47 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.5.
