Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.2 just reported 6 km west of Sisak, Croatia 4.2 quake 6.1 km west of Sisak, Croatia, 2 Aug 1:27 am (GMT +2) A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Sisak, City of Sisak, Sisak-Moslavina, Croatia, was reported only 6 minutes ago by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday 2 August 2021 at 1:27 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Vurot (pop. 100) located 1 km from the epicenter, Petrinja (pop. 13,900) 4 km away, Mošćenica (pop. 2,500) 6 km away, and Sisak (pop. 35,700) 6 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Velika Gorica (pop. 35,100) located 32 km from the epicenter. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sesvete (pop. 52,400) located 43 km from the epicenter, Donji grad (pop. 37,000) 46 km away, Zagreb (pop. 699,000) 46 km away, Stenjevec (pop. 41,300) 50 km away, and Zapresic (pop. 19,700) 58 km away.
