Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes near Te Anau, Southland District, Southland, New Zealand

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 11 minutes ago 54 km northwest of Te Anau, New Zealand, New Zealand's Earthquake Commission and Geological Survey (GeoNet) reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 77.7 km beneath the epicenter near Te Anau, Southland District, Southland, New Zealand, in the evening on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, at 8:16 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
