Small magnitude 3.1 quake hits 48 miles southeast of Hastings, Kansas, United States early morning 3.1 quake 23 Nov 5:11 am (GMT -6) A magnitude 3.1 earthquake near Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska, USA, was reported only 15 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter early morning on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, at 5:11 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Webber (pop. 24) located 6 miles from the epicenter, and Mankato (pop. 840) 10 miles away. In Belleville (pop. 1,900, 28 miles away), Willow Springs (pop. 3,800, 32 miles away), Hebron (pop. 1,500, 34 miles away), Smith Center (pop. 1,600, 35 miles away), Concordia (pop. 5,200, 35 miles away), Osborne (pop. 1,400, 44 miles away), and Hastings (pop. 24,900, 48 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
