Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 39 km east of Sablayan, Philippines
4.9 quake 21 Dec 12:08 pm (GMT +8)

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.9 quake in the Philippines near Sablayan, Mindoro Occidental, Mimaropa, only 16 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021, at 12:08 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.9 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Malamig (pop. 2,800) located 30 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Calintaan (pop. 11,500) located 34 km from the epicenter, Bansud (pop. 13,800) 36 km away, Sablayan (pop. 38,400) 39 km away, Pinamalayan (pop. 43,500) 45 km away, Mansalay (pop. 23,000) 46 km away, San Jose (pop. 118,800) 51 km away, Calapan (pop. 66,000) 67 km away, and Mamburao (pop. 23,900) 74 km away.
