Moderate 4.6 quake hits near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines 4.6 quake 27 Dec 5:40 am (GMT +8) A magnitude 4.6 earthquake near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines, was reported only 17 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 125 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, December 27th, 2021, at 5:40 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100) located 85 km from the epicenter, Surup (pop. 2,100) 90 km away, Nangan (pop. 3,400) 97 km away, and Tiblawan (pop. 2,800) 99 km away.
