Magnitude 4.2 earthquake strikes near Talca, Maule Region, Chile 4.2 quake 24 Jan 4:47 am (GMT -3) The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Chile near Talca, Maule Region, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, January 24th, 2022, at 4:47 am local time at an intermediate depth of 100 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Talca (pop. 197,500) located 54 km from the epicenter.
