Small tremor of magnitude 3.4 just reported 10 miles southeast of Kalifornsky, Alaska, United States 3.4 quake 13 Feb 9:49 pm (GMT -9) A moderately shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported in the evening near Kalifornsky, Borough de Península de Kenai, Alaska, USA. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Sunday, February 13th, 2022, at 9:49 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 26 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.4 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Kasilof (pop. 550) located 8 miles from the epicenter, Soldotna (pop. 4,500) 9 miles away, Cohoe (pop. 1,400) 9 miles away, Kalifornsky (pop. 7,900) 10 miles away, and Ridgeway (pop. 2,000) 12 miles away. In Sterling (pop. 5,600, 15 miles away), Kenai (pop. 7,700, 15 miles away), and Nikiski (pop. 4,500, 24 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
