5.1 quake South Pacific Ocean, Tonga, Feb 14, 2022 5:32 am (GMT +13)

An intermediate to deep magnitude 5.1 earthquake was reported early morning near Neiafu, Vava'u, Tonga.

The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.3 earthquake.
