Magnitude 4.0 earthquake strikes near Nikolski, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA 4.0 quake 21 Feb 8:32 pm (GMT -11) Just 34 minutes ago, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Nikolski, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Monday, February 21st, 2022, at 8:32 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 26 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.0 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Nikolski (pop. 18) located 29 miles from the epicenter.
