Magnitude 4.2 earthquake strikes near Imperial, Provincia de Cañete, Lima region, Peru 4.2 quake 2 Jul 4:08 pm (GMT -5) A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Imperial, Provincia de Cañete, Lima region, Peru, was reported only 18 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 69 km beneath the epicenter in the afternoon on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 4:08 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
