SPC Day 2 Fire Weather OutlookSPC Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0200 AM CDT Fri Jul 29 2022
Valid 301200Z - 311200Z
...Synopsis... A midlevel low will approach the northwestern CONUS from the northeastern Pacific, with increasing cyclonic flow overspreading parts of the Pacific Northwest. The increasing south-southwesterly flow and modest midlevel ascent ahead of this feature should support isolated high-based thunderstorms along the Cascades in northern CA into central OR from the afternoon into the evening hours. While these storms may be a mixed wet-dry mode (0.75-1.0 in PW), isolated lightning-induced ignitions will still be possible away from any precipitation cores.
Additionally, widespread 10-15 percent minimum RH is expected from the Cascades eastward into the northern Rockies during the afternoon. While sustained surface winds should generally remain below 15 mph across the area, locally elevated conditions will still be possible over terrain-favored areas given the presence of critically dry fuels.
