Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Bima, Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Sunday, August 21st, 2022, at 11:18 am local time, at a shallow depth of 21 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Dompu (pop. 49,000) located 94 km from the epicenter, and Bima (pop. 67,000) 97 km away.
