OP Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 381,904 Los Angeles, USA	Magnitude 3.2 earthquake strikes near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA 3.2 quake 27 Aug 4:34 pm (GMT -10) Just 10 minutes ago, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Saturday, August 27th, 2022, at 4:34 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 20 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.7. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pāhala (pop. 1,400) located 7 miles from the epicenter. In Volcano Village (pop. 2,600, 17 miles away), Fern Acres (pop. 1,500, 27 miles away), Hawaiian Ocean View (pop. 4,400, 28 miles away), Mountain View (pop. 3,900, 28 miles away), Hawaiian Acres (pop. 2,700, 30 miles away), Hawaiian Paradise Park (pop. 11,400, 36 miles away), Hilo (pop. 43,300, 38 miles away), and Kailua-Kona (pop. 12,000, 48 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
