Small 2.8 quake hits near Wagin, Western Australia, Australia

Just 29 minutes ago, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Wagin, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded after midnight on Monday, September 5th, 2022, at 12:37 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.2 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.8.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Arthur River (pop. 100) located 2 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bokal (pop. 35) located 10 miles from the epicenter. In Darkan (pop. 400, 14 miles away), Wagin (pop. 1,400, 21 miles away), Narrogin (pop. 4,200, 32 miles away), Kojonup (pop. 1,200, 34 miles away), and Katanning (pop. 3,700, 40 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
