Small 2.8 quake hits near Canna, Morawa, Western Australia, Australia 2.8 quake 20 Sep 4:44 am (GMT +8) Just 34 minutes ago, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Canna, Morawa, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, at 4:44 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8 as well. A third agency, Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.8. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Canna (pop. 61, 21 miles away), Gutha (pop. 53, 21 miles away), Tardun (pop. 46, 25 miles away), Pintharuka (pop. 24, 26 miles away), Pindar (pop. 27, 28 miles away), and Yalgoo (pop. 670, 42 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
