Magnitude 5.1 earthquake strikes near Guayaquil, Cantón Guayaquil, Provincia del Guayas, Ecuador

Ecuador was shaken near Guayaquil, Cantón Guayaquil, Provincia del Guayas, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 only 11 minutes ago, the Institute of Geophysics of the National Polytechnic School in Quito (IGEPN) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 40 km beneath the epicenter near Guayaquil, Cantón Guayaquil, Provincia del Guayas, Ecuador, early morning on Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at 2:39 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake.
